We have talked with Agustín Moro, Global Head of Strategic Partnerships at Telefonica. He told us about his vision about Alaian and what the alliance can contribute to the company and the industry.
What does Alaian mean to you? How would you define it in one word?
This alliance means DISRUPTION and I think it will allow all partners to lead the future in the telco industry.
What does your telco contribute to the overall alliance?
As a leading telco company, Telefonica can bring many benefits to the startups joining the program. For example, E2E tools to support innovators in seed, early and growth phase. Additionally, investment capacity, business development opportunities in a €45bn company that is startup-business ready and access to 375m customers. Finally, a team of over 100 people working with startups
Highlight a key telco technology for you today
5G technology is transversal to many industries and that’s a key value of Alaian. In this sense, we are looking for solutions that can leverage next generation connectivity and blockchain and that can be applied to many consumer verticals, such as digital health, fintech, home, entertainment, edtech, mobility or logistics. I think we are facing high impact challenges in metaverse, web 3.0., non speculative crypto & tokens, exchangers, NFTs, VR/AR, or virtual worlds.
Why is it so important to innovate, and what role does innovation plays in your company?
Open innovation means sharing capacities, knowhow and expertise. It results in financial and operational efficiencies and in a better value proposition for innovators (access to bigger markets and to more resources). It speeds up the time to market of the innovation cycle.
What does an alliance like this offer the entrepreneurial ecosystem?
Alaian enables participating startups to access a potential market of 700M customers in 50 countries.
